Google Car Chased by Property Conscious Villagers

google camera car viewing streets
I have always thought seeing your home in Google Maps is cool. The residents of Broughton, just north of London, UK, disagree, however. As one resident has pointed out:

"This is an affluent area. We've already had three burglaries locally in the past six weeks. If our houses are plastered all over Google it's an invitation for more criminals to strike. I was determined to make a stand, so I called the police."

So, Google's ambitious plan to offer a 3-D street level view of communities across three continents seems to have failed as far as Broughton is concerned. The Google camera car has been chased away and nobody including the thieves are aware that there are interesting targets in the village, even after the story hits every media outlet in the planet.
